WROUGHTON BOWLS CLUB
GUIDANCE FOR BOWLERS DURING COVID-19
Version 3 – Updated Wednesday 25th July 2020
Following the successful opening of the green at Wroughton Bowls Club, and the update government guidelines, we are now able to move to step 3 of the process.  With the changes to the number of people allowed to meet in a group, the committee have decided that we will now allow people to practice in a maximum group of 4.  This means you will now be able to play pairs matches as well as singles matches with a marker and of course roll-ups.
Bowls England have released their guidelines and as a committee we have adapted it for the needs of Wroughton Bowls Club.
This document outlines how the rules associated with having a rollup, however we advise you to read and digest the guidelines that they have sent us.  Please click the following link to find the Bowls England document - https://www.bowlsengland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/bowls_england_covid_19_guidance_020620_FINAL.pdf

EVERY MEMBER PLAYS AT THEIR OWN RISK, AND SHOULD VERY CAREFULLY CONSIDER THEIR PERSONAL SITUATION BEFORE PLAYING. THE CLUB ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY OUTCOMES ARRISING.

The rink booking can be made on the club’s website, under the news tab, clicking on the news article Rink Booking System.  Using either of these links will take you to a from that will allow you to select the day you require to book, and the time slots available on that date.  There must be a spare rink between each rink in use, and we will alternate which rinks we use to spread the wear across the green.  Once you have submitted your form, you will be contacted by phone, or email, and assigned a rink, rinks will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.  You may only play on the rink you are assigned, if you wish to cancel a booking, please contact Oliver Moody either on 07729 974524, or via email at wroughtonbccontact@gmail.com
The maximum number of players on the green at one time is 12, 4 players per rink.  Spectators are now permitted, however the maximum number of people at the club at any one time is 30.
The following methods of play are permitted as per Government guidelines:
•    Individual players on a single rink
•    2, 3 or 4 members of different households playing on one rink
•    Members of the same household playing on a single rink
•    Pairs matches
•    Singles matches with a marker
Social distancing rules MUST be adhered to, you must stay 2 metres away from other bowlers who aren’t from your household.
Bookings are for multiple of 60 minute sessions (roll-ups 1 hour, singles 2 hours, pairs 3 hours). Sessions will start on the hour, and Oliver Moody will ensure there is a gap between sessions on the same rink. Start times are now on the hour and as follows:

Some questions you may have:
•    Can clinically vulnerable people (such as the over 70’s) participate in bowls?
The advice for people in this group hasn’t changed, if you are in this group you are advised to stay at home as much as possible, and, if you do go out, take extra care to minimise contact with others outside your household. If you are living in a household with anyone with COVID 19 symptoms, or are classified as vulnerable on medical grounds, it is recommended that you exercise and stay at home.

Full details can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do#vulnerable-groups-shielding-70-year-olds-and-over-and-care-homes

•    Can I receive coaching?
Coaching is permitted on a one to one basis, adhering to 2m social distancing.

The committee hold the right to change the above as new information from the Government and Bowls England come to us, and any changes will be passed on to members at the earliest opportunity.
